THE SCANNING SETUP
Photographs of the negatives were "scanned" by placing the negatives over a Google Nexus 7 Android tablet running a lightbox application as a backlighting source. The negatives were held in place using a small pane of glass just slightly larger than the negatives, and then photographed using a Nikon D7500 digital camera with a Nikkor AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. Photos were shot in native camera RAW format, ISO 200 at f/8.
Basic editing of the photographs was done using Adobe Lightroom software. All of the images were color inverted from the original negative and then cropped to their original Kodak A122 size of 3 1/4" inches tall by 5 1/2 inched wide. The edited images were then exported from their native camera RAW format to JPG and uploaded to an online gallery.
